Recent Quarter Peals

A full peal contains over 5000 changes and usually takes just over 3 hours to ring. Most bell ringers don’t try to ring a full peal very often! Quarter peals are much more popular. A quarter peal is literally one quarter of a full peal (1250 changes, or sometimes slightly more) and takes about 45 minutes to ring, which is a reasonable length of ringing to fit in before a service on Sunday. Even so, ringing without stopping and without making any mistakes for 45 minutes is a considerable achievement.
