Who is Jesus? (II)
The name Jesus is the Greek form of the Hebrew name „Jeshua“and translates into English as „God saves“ or „The Lord is my salvation“. In those days it was a common name for Jewish sons. Jesus worked as a carpenter until he was about 30, and then he started to publically speak to the people. Everywhere he went he spoke about the kingdom of God. He called the religious and the nonreligious to repent: To turn away from all the rubbish in their lives towards God!“ His performed miracles that were signs of God’s his power given to him. God is a living God, a God who is at work, who wants a relationship with us. You can find out more about Jesus in the four gospels Matthew, Mark, Luke and John (at the beginning of the „New Testament“).
How can I get to know him?
Paul, one of the first Christians, once wrote in a letter: „If you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.“ That is saved from a life of oppression here on earth and saved to a life of eternity in heaven.
