Bell-ringing at St Mary Magdalene

Holloway_group2c.jpg

Ringing is a form of worship and it’s also a great social activity for people of all ages. At St Mary Magdalene in Islington we have a band of about 20 ringers, aged between 10 and over 70. You don’t need to be fit or strong to be a bellringer - almost anybody can do it. Most members of our band started ringing here at St Mary Magdalene.

We are always on the lookout for new recruits and very happy to teach complete beginners, so why not come and give it a try?

Ringing times:

We ring every Sunday morning from 10.15am to 11am and on Sunday evenings by arrangement. We practice every Wednesday evening between 7.30pm and 9pm. We also ring at other times for weddings and special services in the church.
On the social side, we enjoy visiting other churches to ring their bells and every summer we have our annual outing. Our band of ringers is affiliated to the Middlesex County Association and London Diocesan Guild of Church Bellringers, which arranges ringing outings, training and social events for ringers in north London.
